whale calf saves mum

Check Out This Video Of A Whale Calf Saving Its Stranded Mother

14 October 2016 UNDER Blog

In a strange event, a humpback whale was spotted stranded in the Australian sea. The whale was a mother to a calf who was seen attempting to rescue its mother by pushing it off the sandbank. After struggling for more than 30 minutes the calf was able to push its mother into deeper water. The incident occurred about 100 kilometres South-West of Brisbane near North Stradbroke Island. Wildlife officials were the first ones to see the calf pushing its mother into deeper waters. A rescue team arrived at the spot of the stranding but were pleased to see their services were unnecessary because both mother and calf were free and were swimming in the sea. Officials said that tides and the efforts of the calf helped set the mother free before rescuers arrived.

Recently a baby giraffe named Kiko was found abandoned in Kenya’s Meru National Park when he was just a week old. He was too young to survive on his own, however Kiko was lucky enough to be rescued by The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust (DSWT). If you check out the video you will see Loboito the baby elephant that was also rescued by DWST hanging out with Kiko. Officials at the trust say they do not know what happened to Loboito’s mother or the rest of his herd, however, with no one to care for the baby elephant, he too would have died alone in the wild.

It doesn’t matter whether a baby is human or animal, if you send them on errands, eventually they are going to get bored, tired and a meltdown is inevitable. You can basically tell he his screaming at his mum “No!” as she tries to cajole him to get up and continue walking. If you have time, you should check out this amazing video stream of a mama grizzly bear teaching her cubs how to fish. At least that is what we believe is going on here.
